Ventura Highway

We left Oceanside at 5:45 this morning. Being a holiday weekend and knowing how busy roads were yesterday, we wanted to get north of crazy traffic before everyone was up and moving. We caught a glimpse of first sun rising over the mountains at 6.

A short drive later and we start on California Highway 1.

It has been fun to drive through coastal towns that are names we have heard of forever but never been to before and towns made famous through songs. Sunset Beach, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Marina Del Ray, Malibu, until we land for the day in Ventura, a beautiful 160 mile drive.

It was after entering Malibu that we were passed by a BMW with a surfboard sticking out his sun roof. Things we don't see back home.

So as we drive along this incredibly windy road, we are struck by the beauty as well as the dangers. We are driving with the Pacific on one side and the other, hills and sheer cliffs that contain barricades, fencing and signs that read danger falling rocks and possible mud slides, and around the curve?

I guess there is no law against stupid.
Till Tomorrow!
