Out of Cuba

The weather finally broke this morning. We still had a bit of rain when we pushed off. We stopped in for breakfast at Shelly's again and had another terrific breakfast and bid our newest friends a fond goodbye. At their urging, we did stop to see what they say is the smallest Wal-mart in the US, affectionately referred by the locals as Small-mart.

They also suggested we drive by and see the largest rocking chair on Route 66, and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. This chair has since been surpassed in size by a chair somewhere in Illinois. Smallest Wal-mart, Biggest rocker. Great town!

We then drove past Devil's Elbow, Missouri where they were devastated by floods this past week. As I stated earlier, the rain was an inconvenience to us but a devastation to these folks. Some even lost their lives. The flood waters actually covered this bridge.

We did feel the need to stop in and visit Uranus, Mo; specifically, Uranus Fudge Shop.

We appreciated seeing these two iconic signs along the Route today.

And we stopped in to see Rich and Judy's Alma Mater. Rich, you still have some outstanding demerits!

We are stopped for the night just outside of Springfield Mo. Until tomorrow...

  1. Glad the weather turned for the better. And glad you saw our old stomping ground at Baptist Bible College. Next week will mark 40 years ago that I walked the line.
Enjoy a restful night in the Ozarks.
