End of the Line

Yesterday, I referenced Mark and introduced you to his companion, Bertha. This morning we ran into Mark in town and we snapped this photo of him. Mark's Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/search/posts/?q=rtw%204%20teenage%20cancer%20trust
This really is an interesting page.

Today we drove through Neah Bay. Neah Bay is part of the Makah Indian Reservation. It's a small town with a population of about 700 where it is apparent that everyone knows everyone. We then left Neah Bay to drive to Cape Flattery, near the northwestern most point in the continental U.S.

Once at Cape Flattery we hiked out about a half mile to the northwestern most point in the continental U.S. Parts of the trail were a tough walk but the end results were well worth it.

The drive away from Cape Flattery and Neah Bay heading to Port Angeles was astoundingly beautiful. We first passed Lake Crescent and while rounding some curves, we viewed snow capped mountain peaks just up ahead.

And so after 5 1/2 weeks on the road, we are more than halfway done with our trip time wise though not mileage wise yet. We have run out of coast on the northern route. The next stop tomorrow is where we are looking in this final photo: Vancouver Island. We know much more lies ahead and we're grateful because we're not ready for this adventure to end!

We checked into the Flagstone Motel in Port Angeles for a final rest before our next leg. Laureen, the manager checked us in but not before some great stories of life in Port Angeles. She is a 4th generation family member residing in PA. Thank you Laureen for your great hospitality!

Til Tomorrow!
