Today's blog post is different than all others. We had such a phenomenal day and saw so many great sights. We took about 200 photos. I had to whittle them down to 30 for posting. We are staying at an incredible log cabin lodge. They are in the middle of the Muncho Lake Provincial Park. They are so far removed from everything they receive power from a diesel generator and have very limited internet. We have no signal on our cell phones. As a result, I am unable to upload any photos. I tried uploading earlier but after 3 hours, the signal was interrupted and I lost the 10 photos that had been uploaded. So, no photos today. I will post the photos once we return to a cell signal.
We knew from the young ladies who checked us into our motel
room last night that we would be in for some exceptional scenery today. As we
left the Blue Bell Motel, a glance up the road let us know the mountains were
coming.
We enjoyed seeing abundant wildlife today. Elk, Stone Sheep, bear and my first moose sighting, the first of 4 today.
Shadows danced among the mountain peaks as clouds and sun
each tried to outdo the other. It really made for some spectacular displays as
each passing minute changed the appearance of the scenery.
While stopping for gas and warm, buttery cinnamon rolls and
a cup of coffee, we saw these two Model Ts. They are from Iowa and heading to
Alaska and also have a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Iowa-to-Alaska-in-a-Model-T-1846053488966386/)
Yesterday we passed the lowest point on the Alaska Highway
and today we passed the highest; elevation of 4400 feet. Summit Lake is at the
summit and is just beautiful.
We passed so many different rivers today.
We are staying in the Muncho Lake Provincial Park at The
Northern Rockies Lodge. This is just a beautiful log cabin structure, right on
the lake.
Snow sheep.
Two little ones with their mamas nearby.
An elk couple.
My first ever moose sighting. There are actually 2 in the photo. Keen eyes will spot the ears of the second one on the left of the photo.
2 additional cow moose.
A view of the Muncho Lake Lodge from our balcony.
A view of the dining area overlooking Muncho Lake.
